The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has introduced a ban on the sale of motor oil in drums, effective Wednesday. The move, outlined in a letter released by the organization last night, is part of efforts to improve the availability of fuel, which has been in short supply across the country for the past five weeks.
MERA has warned that petrol stations found selling motor oil in drums will face severe penalties, including the confiscation of their operating licenses.
Despite the current difficulties, MERA has reassured Malawians that the situation will stabilize soon, with efforts underway to resolve the oil shortage and restore normal supply levels.
