The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) President Peter Mutharika is today scheduled to register with the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) ahead of the 2025 general election.

DPP spokesperson Shadrick Namalomba has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to this publication.

According to the statement, Mutharika will arrive at the registration centre at Goliati in Thyolo at round 11am.

Namalomba said after the registration exercise Mutharika will hold a campaign rally at Goliati Trading Centre in the district.

“The rally will be used to woe Malawians to go and register in large numbers ahead of the 2025 polls,” said Namalomba.

The second phase of the registration exercise is scheduled to be concluded tomorrow.
