Sarah Mutero, a 49-year-old sex worker, has decided to retire after 23 years in the industry. After leaving her job, she was gifted a piece of land in her hometown, and some kind-hearted individuals have promised to help her build a house.
Stanley Ngara, also known as the King of Condoms, praised sex workers for their role in the fight against HIV and AIDS, noting that many refuse to engage in unsafe sex even for higher payment.
Sarah, who has served around 28,000 men over her career, shared that her earnings were often modest and mostly used to support her children’s education and clothing. While she once saw up to 20 clients a day, her workload reduced as she aged, and she now hopes to live a quieter life with her two sons.
Sarah noted that younger women are now taking over the sex work industry and expressed her desire to set an example for older sex workers to retire respectfully.
She is determined to keep her children from following in her footsteps and looks forward to a peaceful future without seeking a husband. Sarah’s decision marks the end of an era for her, but she remains hopeful for a fresh start.
