A 22 year old man has been remanded to Mulanje Prison awaiting his trial in a case he is suspected to have abducted and slept with a 13 year old girl.

Mulanje Police Spokesman Innocent Moses said that the man, Raphael Juma allegedly committed the crime on 15th November 2024.

Moses explained that the girl was coming from church and the suspect who was on a motorcycle offered her a lift, but he diverted to one of the rest houses at Mathambi Trading Centre.

He said it is alleged that Juma had sexuali intercourse with the child.

Moses added said the girl explained everything that transpired to her parents and the man was arrested when the matter was reported to police.

The trial will begin soon.
