FAM Rejects Silver Strikers’ Complaint Over Leyman Panthers’ Player Eligibility

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has turned down Silver Strikers’ request to disqualify Leyman Panthers FC from the Castel Challenge Cup on allegations of fielding ineligible players.

Silver Strikers were eliminated from the competition after losing in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw with Leyman Panthers.

In its ruling, FAM’s Competitions Committee stated that according to tournament regulations, complaints about player eligibility must be raised through the team captain during halftime or immediately after the match, which Silver Strikers failed to do.

However, the committee has indicated that the protest will be reviewed further to ensure the growth and integrity of football in Malawi.
