Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) has been ranked as the best university in the country by Times Higher Education.

LUANAR is also placed on number 15 out of 129 ranked universities from 22 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa region.

Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) comes second in the country and 22 on the Sub-Saharan ranking.

Other notable universities in the country are missing on the 2024 list.

The ranking is based on the methodology that specifically assesses the impact of universities in addressing some of the toughest challenges faced in the region.
