The Malawi Eenergy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has suspended operations of Engen Kawale fuel pump station in the capital Lilongwe for selling to customers in Jerry cans.
MERA has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to this publication, saying the suspension follows failure by the filling station to follow an order suspending sell of fuel in Jerry cans due to fuel scarcity in the country.
In the statement, MERA said the filling station will resume its operation once all the grievances are sorted out.
“Lifting of the suspension of operations at ENGEN Kawale will be subject to satisfactory implementation of measures taken to avoid reoccurrence of the malpractice,” reads part of the statement.
