Lilongwe-based artist Mwanache has shared details of a harrowing experience on the night of Saturday, November 23, 2024. While returning from a studio near his home around 10/11 PM, he was confronted by three armed thugs.
The attackers, armed with dangerous weapons, demanded his phone, money, and other valuables, including a small bag containing an external hard drive with his studio projects. Before he could comply, one of the thugs struck him on the back of the head, snatched his belongings, and fled, leaving behind a notepad and an empty bag.
Despite the attack, Mwanache was fortunate to escape serious injury. He was found by locals and later advised by medical personnel to rest and recover. The incident was reported to the police, who are actively pursuing the perpetrators.
In a stroke of luck, Mwanache’s phone was recovered two days later at a repair shop in Area 25, though it had been wiped clean of all information and was being prepared for resale. The case remains under police investigation.
Unfortunately, the stolen hard drive contained all his recent music projects and backups. Mwanache, along with his team at Lomwe King Universal, has confirmed that the loss will delay the release of new music as they must start recording from scratch.
He thanked his fans for their continued support and assured them that he would be back in action soon.
