The Lusaka Regional Immigration Office in Zambia, have apprehended 35 foreign nationals on November 26, 2024, for various immigration offences. Among them, a Zambian national was arrested for obstructing officers during the operation.

The crackdown, which began at 6:00 AM, targeted areas such as Misisi, Chunga, SOS, Lilanda, Middle West, and Makeni South. Those detained include 26 Burundians, five Rwandese, four Congolese, and one Tanzanian.

Immigrations Public Relations Officer Namati Nshinka revealed that many of the suspects were caught at bakeries where they were purchasing bread for resale. The Zambian national reportedly alerted suspects to the officers’ presence, enabling some to escape.

All detainees are being held at Kamwala Remand Correction Facility pending court appearances. This operation contributes to the nationwide total of 96 arrests for immigration-related offences between November 25 and 26, 2024.
