United Democratic Front (UDF) leader Atupele Muluzi has called on the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to repeat the voter registration process for the first and second phases.

Muluzi claims the registration in these phases was marred by irregularities, particularly involving the National Registration Bureau (NRB). He emphasized the importance of giving every eligible citizen the opportunity to vote in next year’s elections.

Leaders from other political parties, including Dr. Joyce Banda of the People’s Party and Dr. Dalitso Kabambe of UTM, have also urged MEC to extend the registration period for the affected phases.

Meanwhile, the third phase of voter registration commenced today in districts such as Lilongwe, Mzimba, Mangochi, Mwanza, Chikwawa, and Nsanje.
