Former President Peter Mutharika who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on Sunday invaded the lowershire ahead of the 2025 polls.
Mutharika held a number of whistle-stop tours starting with Dyeratu, Nchalo, Bangula and Nsanje Boma urging them to come out and register in large numbers.
Speaking at Nsanje Boma, Mutharika acknowledged the challenges the district is facing under President Lazarus Chakwera’s government.
He promised that if elected next year, he would work to improve the district and the wider Lower Shire region.
Mutharika pointed out that during his time in office, he initiated key projects in the Lowershire districts.
The former President then promised to Bangula University, the first higher learning institution in the area, as a key step towards development in the Lower Shire.
