Members of Parliament are split on the use of electronic voting machines during sessions, with opposition lawmakers questioning the integrity of the system.

Opposition MPs argue that the machines enable absentee MPs to cast votes, raising concerns about transparency and fairness in the voting process.

In response, Leader of the House Richard Chimwendo Banda assured that the government side is ready to revert to the traditional method of verbal voting, where MPs respond with “Yes” or “No” during decision-making.

The debate underscores the need for consensus on voting procedures to ensure accountability and trust in parliamentary processes.
