Atleast 635 student teachers under IPTE18 at Lilongwe Teachers’ Training college are boycotting classes for three weeks now over unpaid field allowances.

Lilongwe TTC students Union president, Giveness Mwanza, says talks with the ministry through the college management have proven futile hence the action.

Mwanza says students are given K20,000.00 a month for six months as field allowance but now some students have received either 40 or K80,000.00.

Ministry of education spokesperson, Mphatso Nkuonera, says allowances will soon be paid.
