A tragic road accident claimed the lives of three men when their vehicle plunged 30 feet from an unfinished bridge in Uttar Pradesh. The victims—Kaushal Kumai, Vivek Kumar, and Amit Kumar—were returning home to Bareilly after attending a wedding in Gurugram, located southwest of New Delhi.

The men’s bodies were discovered nearly 19 hours after the crash, at 9:30 AM the following day, trapped inside their mangled car. Initial investigations suggest that the men had been following directions from an outdated version of Google Maps, which had erroneously guided them onto a bridge that had been closed for more than a year.

The bridge had been rendered unsafe after a collapse in 2022, triggered by severe flooding, yet there were no signs or barriers warning drivers of its inoperability. Without any indication of danger, the men continued on their route at speed, only to drive off the edge of the bridge.

All three victims were employed as security guards. After the crash, their remains were retrieved and transported by boat to Faridpur for post-mortem examinations.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and summoned four engineers, as well as an unidentified engineer from Google Maps, for questioning.
