Engineer Dr. Mathews Chinombo Mtumbuka has announced that he will contest as Member of Parliament in Rumphi Central Constituency in the 2025 general election.

Mtumbuka will contest on the post on United Transformation Movement (UTM) ticket, according to the statement posted on his official facebook page.

“On 18th September 2024, chiefs from Rumphi Central Constituency requested me to stand for Member of Parliament MP at a meeting we held at Bolero Trading Centre, as did UTM leaders on Xmas Day 2018!

“On both occasions, I mentioned that I would answer. Today, at Rumphi Boma, standing before the Constituency Governor Mr Chipeta and his key representatives from across the constituency I have nodded to the call to serve my people from where I was brought up and the people I have engaged and worked with as a community organizer since around 2010. So help me God! RU Central 2025 loading 5%!,” wrote Mtumbuka.

Mtumbuka contested as President for UTM at the party’s elective conference and he failed miserably to Dr. Dalitso Kabambe who is now UTM President.
