A 12-year-old girl from Luanshya’s Butungwa overspill has allegedly been defiled by her 18-year-old stepbrother.

According to Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba, the incident occurred between April 2024 and December 4, 2024.

The matter was reported by a teacher from the victim’s school, who noticed the girl’s poor performance and unusual behaviour. After inquiry, the victim revealed that she had been sexually abused by her stepbrother, Christopher.

Mr. Mweemba stated that the school teacher approached the victim’s parents, but the mother denied the allegations and refused to take action.

The school continued to monitor the situation, and in December 2024, the teacher observed that the abuse had continued. The victim was then taken to the Urban Clinic and later referred to Thompson Hospital.

The police have opened a docket, and the accused stepbrother is currently in police custody.
