The Zambia Police Service has dispersed 40 students from various colleges and universities who had gathered at Cresta Lodge in Lusaka on December 5, 2024, to listen to former President Edgar Lungu.
The students were brought together for the meeting, which was scheduled to be addressed by Lungu and chaired by Raphael Nakachinda.

Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga confirmed that the police acted following intelligence information, and the event was disrupted around 13:00 hours before Lungu could speak.

The organizers and attendees were reminded to follow legal protocols by notifying the police in advance when planning public gatherings.

Hamoonga also urged all citizens to comply with legal procedures for organizing public assemblies and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure peace and order are maintained.
