United Democratic front (UDF) President Atupele Austine Muluzi has distanced himself from rumours circulating on social media claiming that he met President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera in United Arab Emirates where the two discussed for a partnership ahead of the 2025 polls.

In a video clip shared on his official facebook page, Muluzi described the rumours as baseless.

“I would like to inform you all Malawians that i am not in Dubai, am in Malawi.Disregard all the rumours claiming that i am in talks with the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) for a possible alliance.

“Let me also take this opportunity to inform you that since my return to leadership of the United Democratic Front (UDF) months ago i have never been into discussion with any political party for a possible alliance,” said Muluzi in the video clip.

Commenting on the Afrobalometer report Muluzi said the party will work hard in returning the trust which is currently dead among Malawians ahead of the 2025 polls.

Muluzi will contest for Presidency for third time.
