Police in Nkhotakota have yesterday on 17th December 2024, arrested two passengers from a City Tours bus after they were found in possession of marijuana at the Kaombe checkpoint.

Nkhotakota Police Deputy Spokesperson, Chisomo Chuma, confirmed the incident, identifying the suspects as Maxwell Zomba (20) and Prince Tiligu (21).

“During a routine search on the City Tours bus, registration number BV 8313, officers discovered two bags of marijuana. Further investigations led to the arrest of the two men, who failed to produce documentation permitting them to carry the substance,” said Chuma.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Nkhotakota Magistrate Court. Meanwhile, the confiscated marijuana will be sent to Chitedze Research Station in Lilongwe for analysis.

Maxwell Zomba hails from Khamula Village, under Traditional Authority Chikumbu in Mulanje District, while Prince Tiligu is from Kanyenda Village, under Senior Chief Kanyenda in Nkhotakota District.
