High Court Judge Chimbizyani Kacheche has adjourned the Cementgate case to 2:00 PM today in Lilongwe.

The adjournment comes after the absence of two key suspects, Norman Chisale and Rhoda Mbilizi, along with their lawyer, Fostino Mayele.

Judge Kacheche is expected to provide direction on the case, including a ruling on two defense applications. One application is from Chisale, who is seeking to renew his passport.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Masauko Chamkakala, has voiced frustration over repeated adjournments, emphasizing that the plea was taken on July 28, 2023, and the case should have been concluded by now.

Chisale, Mbilizi, and Mukhito stand accused of abusing former President Peter Mutharika’s Taxpayer Identification Number (TPIN) to import cement duty-free.
