The Malawi Prison Service in the Southern Region has confirmed that it has suspended one of its own, Thoko Mwale, a warder from Chichiri Prison in Blantyre.
This follows the arrest of Mwale yesterday, along with two other people, who are suspected of forcibly harboring an Indian citizen.
According to Julius Magombo, the spokesman for the Southern Region Prisons Department, the disciplinary committee made this decision to allow the police to properly investigate the matter.
The suspects in the case are expected to appear before the court soon.
