Two people have died after a bus hit a donkey and then collided with a Toyota Fortuner near Makhado on the Bulawayo-Beitbridge highway early Thursday in South Africa.

The collision near a railway crossing happened at around 12.30AM. National police spokesman Commissioner Paul Nyathi said: “Two people were killed while one person was injured when a Irizar Mthethi bus with two passengers on board hit a donkey.

Subsequently, the bus veered off the road leading to a head on collision with a Toyota Fortuner vehicle with one passenger on board.

“The bodies of the victims were taken to Beitbridge Hospital mortuary for post mortem while the injured was admitted at the same hospital.” The bus was South Africa-bound while the Toyota Fortuner was heading towards Bulawayo. Accident scene pictures showed the Fortuner was reduced to mangled mental with some luggage on top – just the wheels showing it was a car.
