A total of 1,487 babies were born on Christmas Day in Malawi, compared to 1,462 births recorded on the same day last year, according to the Ministry of Health.
Of the Christmas babies born this year, 764 were girls and 723 were boys.
Lilongwe topped the list with 244 babies, followed by Blantyre with 109. Mangochi, which led last year with 89 births, recorded 97 babies this year. Kasungu had 76 births, Dowa 71, Mulanje 65, and Zomba 63. Likoma, with only one baby born, recorded the lowest number of births among the 28 districts in the country.
