Police at Muloza Border in Mulanje District  has this afternoon fired tear gas to disperse a crowd at a nearby market. The crowd was attempting to attack a family accused of practicing witchcraft.

An eyewitness, Mwatero Banda, explained that the incident stems from the death of a child in Ntalika Village, under Senior Chief Njema, where the child reportedly passed away without showing signs of illness.

According to Banda, villagers suspect the family, which police are now protecting, to be responsible for the tragedy.
As of now, police in the district have not issued a statement regarding the incident.
