Police in Mitundu, Lilongwe District, have recovered a CZ P-09 pistol that suspected criminals allegedly intended to use for a planned crime on December 31, 2024.

The discovery was made in Mkwezalamba village under Traditional Authority Chiseka.

According to Lilongwe Police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu, officers on night patrol were tipped off by locals about suspicious individuals gathered in a specific area.

“When the officers arrived, they questioned the individuals about their presence. However, the group quickly abandoned a bag containing the firearm and fled the scene,” said Chigalu.
