In a move to align Malawi’s leadership with the nation’s priorities for the year, President Lazarus Chakwera has unveiled a new cabinet. The announcement, made yesterday, January 1, 2025, reflects his constitutional powers under Section 94(1) and is aimed at preparing the government for the general elections slated for September.

The appointments, effective immediately, feature a mix of experienced leaders and fresh faces. Notably, Michael Bizwick Usi has been named Vice President and Minister of State for Public Service Delivery, while Jessie Kabwira takes on the role of Minister of Higher Education.
