Police in Mponela, Dowa District, have arrested retired soldier Allan Chikuse for allegedly consuming alcohol worth K931,900 without paying at a bar in Chimwaza.
Mponela Police spokesperson, Macpatson Msadala, stated that Chikuse informed the bar attendant that he was a soldier and would settle the bill through Airtel Money. However, he failed to fulfill his promise after leaving the premises.
The bar attendant reported the matter to their manager, who then informed the Mtengowanthenga Police Station about the incident.
Chikuse, who hails from Simwaza Village under Traditional Authority Malenga in Ntchisi District, is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges related to the alleged offense.
