Celebrated Zambian musician Wesley Chibambo, popularly known as Dandy Crazy, has passed away in the early hours of today at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka.
Dandy Crazy, who sustained multiple injuries in a road traffic accident on December 31, 2024, was admitted to UTH-Adult yesterday. He underwent emergency surgery but remained in critical condition despite the efforts of the medical team.
Nzeba Chanda, the public relations officer for UTH-Adult, confirmed the tragic news, stating, “Despite various treatment interventions, we regret to inform the public of Dandy Crazy’s passing. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and the nation as we mourn this loss.”
The accident, caused by a truck driver who initially fled the scene but later turned himself in, claimed the lives of four others, including another musician and a senior lecturer from Mulungushi University.
Dandy Crazy, known for his vibrant personality and slogan “Baska Baska,” rose to fame in early 2008 with hits like Bachelor and Nshapelele Panhila just to mention a few. His music resonated with many, making him a household name in Zambia.
