
2 Arrested for Murdering Housemaid and Stealing Car in Lilongwe Area 47

Police at Lingadzi in Lilongwe have arrested Mwaiwawo Ndafera (23) and James Makwacha (25) on allegations of murdering a housemaid and stealing property, including a Nissan Dualis car, in Area 47, Lilongwe.
According to Lingadzi Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Maria Kumwenda, the crime occurred around midday on December 12, 2024.
The incident came to light when homeowner Bridget Zenia Soko, who was abroad at the time, sent a construction worker to her house for maintenance. The worker found the gate open, the car missing, and later discovered the lifeless body of housemaid Princes Chinyama inside.
Police transported the body to Kamuzu Central Hospital for a postmortem, which confirmed murder. A subsequent investigation revealed other stolen items, including a plasma screen, a generator, and two laptops.
Days later, police arrested Ndafera and Makwacha, recovering some stolen property, including the car and screen. The suspects are now facing charges of murder and theft.
