Shadow Member of Parliament for South Lunzu Constituency Alex Chimwala is scheduled to conduct mass awareness campaign ahead of the Supplementary voter registration exercise ahead of September 16 general election in the country.

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) through its Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja announced the supplementary voter registration exercise across the country following a complaint raised some opposition political parties and some religious leaders.

The move to conduct the supplementary registration has excited many Malawians.

Speaking in an interview with faceofmalawi reporter Chimwala said this is a chance for all people from Machinjiri to register and vote in September this year.

“As I did in the first phase where we used all the means available to mobilise would be voters I’ll definitely do the same to mobilise the voters.

Let me take this opportunity to encourage Machinjilians to use this opportunity to register in large numbers no one should be left behind,” said Chimwala.

Chimwala has always been on the forefront pushing for a youth centre in Machinjiri, renovation of court which was burnt some time back and compression of a ring road which connect the area to Blantyre-Zomba road.

Apart from that, Chimwala has been sponsoring football in Machinjri using the little resources he earns from his construction company.

On 26 December, Chimwala celebrated his birthday with elderly people where he donated assorted food items to over 200 grannies.
