An accident in Ntcheu at Ndagoma has claimed the lives of an elderly couple and an unidentified cyclist.

Wesley Mlozi, 66, and his wife Dorothy Mlozi, 60, died when a Freightliner truck veered off the road and hit their stationary Nissan Qashqai. The truck also struck a Toyota Dyna, which in turn fatally injured a cyclist.

According to Ntcheu Police spokesperson Jacob Khembo, the Freightliner, driven by Collins Khoswe, 36, attempted to overtake another vehicle, causing it to lose control. Both Khoswe and Lloyd Mbeya, the Toyota Dyna driver, are receiving treatment for injuries at Ntcheu District Hospital.

The Mlozis, from Chidothi Village under Traditional Authority Mponela in Dowa, succumbed to severe head injuries. The accident has left a community mourning the tragic loss of lives.
