Blantyre City South East Member of Parliament, Sameer Suleman, has voluntarily reported to the police following the publication of a document that implied he could face arrest.
Suleman’s lawyer, Felix Tambulasi, confirmed the development, explaining that the MP was advised to report to the authorities to clarify the situation rather than waiting for a police search.
According to Tambulasi, Suleman has already arrived at the police station to learn more about the reasons for the actions against him. Although the exact details surrounding the case remain unclear, the document in question references a controversial interview where Suleman allegedly made remarks about threats from senior members of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
The document mentions names such as Richard Chimwendo Banda, Baba Steve Malondera, and Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, claiming they were implicated in the threats. This has raised concerns about the political climate in the country, especially among opposition members, following the reported comments made by the MP during a DPP Facebook page interview.
Suleman’s situation remains under investigation as he seeks to understand the police’s intentions and defend himself against any allegations or accusations. Further updates on the case are expected to follow as the investigation unfolds.
