Former Minister of Finance Joseph Mwanamvekha, along with four co-accused in a case involving the alleged mismanagement of over K400 billion at Salima Sugar Company, has been granted bail.
State prosecutor Dzikondianthu Malunda confirmed that no objections were raised against their bail request, as Mwanamvekha and his co-accused who are Former Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) CEO Collins Magalasi, former Secretary to the President and Cabinet (SPC) Lloyd Muhara, former secretary to Treasury Cliff Chiunda and Jimmy Kusamale, ex-Greenbelt initiative company secretaalready on bail for other charges.
The case remains under investigation as authorities seek to establish the extent of financial mismanagement at the company.
