Police in Salima have arrest Rashid Peter a resident of Chief Kambwiri’s area in the district for allegedly  being found with elephant  ivory without licence.

According to Salima Police spokesperson Rebecca Ndiwate, the arrest took place on January 8 following a tip-off from concerned citizens who reported that Peter was selling the ivory at Katelera Trading Center.

This is not the first time Peter has been arrested on similar charges. He is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges related to the illegal possession of wildlife products.
