Mzimba Police Station is keeping in custody a 60-year old Emanuel Panganani who is suspected to have murdered Albert Zimba 36 years old from Mtola village Traditional Authority M’mbelwa in mzimba district.
Constable Mariah Banda, who is Public Relation Officer, for Mzimba Police Station, says on January 2, 2025 around afternoon hours Albert Zimba (now deceased), was coming from a drinking joint at Manyamula trading center and and on his way he met Panganani where misunderstanding arose between the two.
In no time, it is alleged that Panganani stabbed Zimba on the head with a sharp object.
The matter was reported to Manyamula police Unit, where a referal letter was issued to Zimba for medical attention at Mzimba District Hospital.
At this particular time the suspect had already fled.
The victim was later referred to Mzuzu Central Hospital where he died around midnight on January 3, 2025.
Postmortem revealed that cause of death was due to a head injury secondary to the stab.
It is in the records that Panganani committed a similar offence in 2019 and and he is on High Court bail.
Albert Panganani also hails from Mtola village in Traditional Authority M’mbelwa in Mzimba district.
He will appear in court soon to answer a murder charge which contravenes section 209 of the penal code.
