The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia has initiated disciplinary action against five individuals involved in a controversial social media challenge, “We Listen, We Do Not Judge: Nurse’s Edition,” where they confessed to bypassing medical procedures in patient care.

Council Public Relations Officer, Mailesi Banda, confirmed that four of the accused are registered nurses, while the fifth is a student awaiting results from the November/December 2024 competency exams. Banda assured the public that the Council is committed to addressing the cases with urgency and ensuring justice is served.

“The Council will not tolerate professional misconduct,” Banda warned, urging nurses and midwives to adhere to the Code of Ethics and maintain professionalism. She encouraged the public to report any negligence by healthcare practitioners to the Council for immediate action.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the responsibility held by healthcare professionals and the importance of ethical service delivery.
