A 20-year-old man Joseph Sankhani has been arrested by Police in Dedza District for murdering his 35-year old uncle.
Public Relations Officer for Dedza Police Station Sergeant Beatrice Jefita has confirmed of the incident indicating that the suspect who hails from Kawaliza Village, Traditional Authority Kasumbu in the district murdered his uncle Chewile Banda between the night of January 11th and 12th, 2025 at Chongoni Forest Reserve in the same district.
According to Jefita, it is reported that the suspect and his uncle agreed to go to Chongoni Forest Reserve to steal Tsamba trees, but upon reaching there, Sankhani hacked his uncle on head with a Panga Knife.
“After killing him, he removed some human tissues like, private parts, eyes, six teeth and a tongue and left the remains in the midst of the forest reserve,” Jefita revealed.
He later took the human tissues to a certain businessman in Dedza district to offer for sell to the surprise of the businessman who tipped Police officers at Dedza Police Station who managed to arrest the suspect.
Currently, the body of the deceased is at Dedza District Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem.
