Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) President, Enock Chihana, has written to the Inspector General of the Malawi Police Service, demanding the identities of five police officers who allegedly raided his Area 9 residence in Lilongwe on Sunday.

In his letter, Chihana expresses concern for his safety, suggesting that the officers may be part of a hit squad. He claims that the officers, who were driving an official police vehicle, refused to reveal their identities and inquired about his whereabouts, despite the absence of any arrest warrant against him.

Chihana has stated that he is willing to cooperate with the authorities and present himself to the police, but only after an official warrant for his arrest is issued.

Recently, several prominent politicians and business figures have been arrested on various charges, including tax evasion, raising suspicions of an ongoing crackdown.
