Police at Jenda in Mzimba have arrested three people, Adson Phiri 19, Steve Mofat 22, and Anafi Tsoka 25, under suspicion that they committed various crimes at Jenda trading centre in the district.
The arrests follow an intelligence-driven operation conducted by Jenda Police detectives on the evening of January 13, 2025.
It has been established that the first suspect, Adson Phiri, is suspected of having stolen a T-Beta motorcycle belonging to Gerald Nyirongo on January 2, 2025, valued at 2 million Malawian kwacha. The motorcycle has been recovered from where he sold it and took K60, 000 as an upfront payment.
The second suspect Steve Mofat is suspected to have stolen two bails of sugar and a bicycle belonging to Lameck Mwale while the owner was inside a shop making further purchases at Jenda Trading Centre on January 13, 2025.
The third suspect Anafi Tsoka is suspected of having stolen six phones from Wiseman Banda by breaking into his house at midday on January 13, 2025, at section 2B around Jenda Trading Centre.
All three suspects will be taken before the court to answer the charges levelled against them when all the necessary paperwork is completed.
Adson Phiri comes from Chipoyola village Traditional Authority Khososlo in Mzimba, Steve Mofat comes from Mankhaka village, Traditional Authority Kaomba in Kasungu and Anafi Tsoka comes from Michesi village, Traditional Authority Kalembo in Balaka district.
