Olga Larrea, a 30-year-old woman from Mexico City, was arrested after performing a nude photoshoot on the La Perla sculpture in La Paz on January 11.
She removed her dress and posed atop the monument as traffic slowed and bystanders watched in shock. Larrea threw her dress at the photographer before climbing down and was approached by police.
She was taken to the prosecutor’s office and released after paying a fine of about $163. Larrea had posted the photos on Facebook before deleting them and criticized authorities for arresting her.
On social media, she defended her actions, calling nudity natural and questioning the censorship of the human body. Many users condemned her stunt, urging her to do it in a more appropriate location.
Some called for harsher penalties, claiming she damaged the sculpture.
