The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) has lifted the suspension on Shoprite supermarket in Blantyre, allowing the store to resume operations.
The supermarket was closed temporarily yesterday due to non-compliance with standard regulations.
This development comes on the heels of the MBS’s closure of Sana Shops in Blantyre, Lilongwe, and Mzuzu on Wednesday.
According to Raphael Kesten Mpingo, Senior Certification Officer at MBS, the bureau was satisfied with the corrective measures taken by Shoprite officials. Mpingo emphasized that the MBS’s enforcement efforts are designed to safeguard consumer safety in Malawi.
“We are committed to ensuring that all businesses operating in the country adhere to the required standards,” Mpingo said.
