The Malawi Police Service has interdicted a police officer, Aubrey Msusa who is suspected of murdering a suspect in Chikwawa.

A letter signed by director of human resources and development in the service, Violet Magwaya, said the immediate interdiction is pending the completion of the matter.

Msusa is being accused of being involved in the death of Tenfold Mulepa, who was allegedly beaten severely in custody in 2022.

The police arrested Msusa last year alongside his co-accused officer, Patrick Khumake following an investigation by the Independent Complaints Commission (ICC) before the Thyolo magistrate court committed his matter to the High Court.

Meanwhile, ICC publicist Happy Njalam’mano said hearing started and will resume at the High Court next month February where prosecution shall parade more witnesses.
