Police Officer Dies After Being Struck by Motorcycle in Mchinji

A 26-year-old police officer in Mchinji district, John Mwenye, has died after being hit by a motorcycle while he was on duty in the district.
The spokesperson for the police in the district, Limbani Mpinganjira, said the incident occurred at 4 o’clock on Thursday evening on Mchinji road towards Lilongwe, when the motorcycle hit Mwenye, who was standing on the side of the road.
The impact caused him to suffer serious head injuries, and he later died at the hospital where he was receiving treatment.
“The rider and the passenger were slightly injured, and they were both rushed to the hospital,” Mpinganjira said.
The deceased was from the village of Mbedza, under the chief of Chiwere in Dowa district.
