
Mulanje Police Launch Manhunt After Death of Mighty Wanderers Supporter ‘Francis Loti’

Police in Mulanje are searching for a suspect in connection with the death of Mighty Wanderers supporter Francis Loti, who is also a football player for Fabiyo Rachers, a team based in Bvumbwe, Thyolo District.
According to Mulanje Police spokesperson Innocent Moses, Loti, had traveled to Phalombe to play a match against Migowi Soccer Saints.
On his way back, he boarded a lorry with other players. However, upon reaching Mulanje LEA Primary School along the Phalombe Road, the lorry encountered a group of people performing a traditional dance known as “Ngole” or “Batcha.”
During the incident, one individual reportedly pulled Loti from the moving lorry, throwing him to the ground. Moses confirmed that reports indicate Loti sustained a broken neck. He was rushed to Mulanje Mission Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.
Police are investigating the group involved in the traditional dance and are working to identify the person responsible for the incident.
Francis Loti hailed from Gumbi Village, under Traditional Authority Nanseta, in Thyolo District.
