The High Court in Lilongwe has ruled that Norman Chisale has a case to answer on three charges related to allegedly using someone else’s certificate to secure employment in the Malawi Defence Force (MDF).
In her ruling, Judge Madalitso Khoswe Chimwaza stated that the evidence presented in court so far warrants Chisale to enter a defense. She clarified that the accused has the option to call witnesses, speak for himself, or remain silent.
Chisale, who served as former President Peter Mutharika’s personal bodyguard, is accused of using a Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) belonging to Pintius Hiwa to join the MDF in 1996. He faces three charges, including Personation of a Person Named in a Certificate and Intimidation.
