The Minister of Trade, Sosten Gwengwe, has stopped Central Poultry Company from increasing the price of chicken feed. Gwengwe said that in the past three weeks, the company has raised the price of chicken feed three times, which has caused the prices of chicken and eggs to rise.
The minister has also directed the company not to withhold its goods and has prohibited them from raising the prices of these items.
The head of trade at Central Poultry, Chimwemwe Mganga, stated that the government has given them two weeks to present information on the price increases of chicken feed and said they will comply with the order.
