A tragic incident occurred in Kapire Village, Traditional Authority Nsamala, where a 3-year-old boy, Happy Loti, drowned in a pool on January 28.

Balaka Police Public Relations Officer, Gladstone M’bumpha, confirmed that the incident happened around 3 PM. Happy had gone to a neighbor’s house to play with friends but later went outside and did not return. His lifeless body was later discovered in a pool near the house.

A post-mortem conducted at Balaka District Hospital confirmed that the cause of death was suffocation due to drowning.
