Teacher in cooler for defiling 6-year-old child in Mangochi

Police in Mangochi have arrested William Songolo, 27 years old, who is a teacher at Luchichi Primary School in Namwera, on suspicion of raping a six-year-old child whom he teaches part time classes

Amina Tepani Daudi, the press officer at the Mangochi police station, said that the girl is a standard 2 student, and their investigation has shown that Mr. Songolo works together with the child’s father, which gives confidence that he could live with the child until one day when the child complained to her mother that she was feeling pain in her private parts.

When the child was pressed by her parents, he explained what Mr. Songolo had done to her and the matter was reported to the Namwera police station where the child was sent to the hospital.   The results of the hospital have confirmed that the child has indeed died.

Songolo comes from the Kadaona village of the great Chief Mzikubola in the Mzimba district.
