Mzuzu Police Arrest Man for Illegal Possession and Smuggling of Firearms

Police in Mzuzu have arrested a 20-year-old man, Robert Nyirongo, on suspicion of smuggling and illegally possessing firearms from Mzimba District.
According to Mzuzu Police Deputy Spokesperson Cecelia Mfune, Nyirongo was apprehended following the arrest of his associate, Mike Hara, in Mzimba, who was found in possession of a firearm.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Nyirongo bought the weapon from an individual in South Africa and intended to use it for criminal activities.
He is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges of illegal firearm possession and smuggling.
Robert Nyirongo hails from Damaseke Village under Traditional Authority Kampingo Sibande in Mzimba District.
