The Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) has announced the suspension of all US-funded programs after the US government issued a stop order, cutting off funding for multiple university projects.
In an internal memo, Registrar Christopher Francis Namagowa informed staff and students about the decision, assuring them that Principal Investigators (PIs) would provide further updates and guidance. The university acknowledged the challenges this move presents and encouraged those affected to seek clarification from their PIs.
Similarly, on Sunday, LUANAR also suspended all USAID-funded projects, citing the same directive from the US government.
These suspensions come in the wake of US President Donald Trump’s decision to halt USAID operations for a review of its funding mechanisms.
